Asta Volkensfeld (* 1981, Eutin) is a ceramicist, seamstress and textile designer who lives and works in Groß Körris, Brandenburg. The focus of her work lies in the creation of ceramic objects using the build-up technique and the subsequent design in smoke firing. She produces her own ash glazes.
Asta's ceramics radiate an aesthetic clarity through their geometric patterning; the beautifully shaped and functional objects are touching and engage in a dialog with the viewer. Questions of origin, identity and transience play a major role for Asta. Through the natural colors and exciting surfaces of her objects, Asta emphasizes the connection between nature, man and craftsmanship in her work.
