Wakahiko Ishikawa, born in Tokyo in 1960 as the eldest son of a sculptor, moved to the ceramics town of Mashiko in Tochigi Prefecture in 1990.
He began his work as a ceramist there and Wakahiko still has his workshop and gallery Waka Studio in Mashiko today. The gallery regularly hosts solo exhibitions and events where Wakahiro's works are presented.
Wakahiro Ishikawa makes tableware, bowls and vases for everyday use. The color scheme of his works is uniformly very light, almost white, and very dark, almost black. And matt. Beautiful!
