The Artisan Affair

The Artisan Affair - A new stage for the finest arts and crafts in Hamburg

A weekend for the senses, craftsmanship and encounters
On November 8 and 9, 2025, Hamburg will open its doors for a very special event: The Artisan Affair - a new, carefully curated arts and crafts fair that will celebrate its premiere in the elegant Mozart Halls of the Logenhaus. Initiated by renowned artisan Frank Pressentin, known as ELBWOOD - The Hanseatic Penmaker, this fair sends a strong message for the rediscovery of quality, authenticity and craftsmanship excellence.

Strong message, strong partners
When we heard about The Artisan Affair, it quickly became clear to us: We're in! Our passion for the authentic and sensual in craftsmanship fits perfectly with the philosophy of The Artisan Affair. Just like at haptik - Galerie für Gebrauchskunst in Flensburg's old town, where we offer handicrafts for everyday use to experience and touch, we want to work with others to create a modern, exciting event for an art-loving audience. In Hamburg, we will be presenting ceramics by 5 of our artists.

A forum for masterpieces and encounters
Around 40 selected exhibitors from all over Germany will present their unique works - from fine writing instruments to handmade jewelry, leather goods, glass and textile art to custom-made interior objects. The trade fair sees itself not only as a sales platform, but also as a place of exchange, inspiration and appreciation for craftsmanship.

Visitors can expect a varied supporting program with insights into work processes, inspiring conversations and an atmospheric dance evening in the historic foyer - a "come together" for exhibitors and invited guests that celebrates personal contact and the joy of a shared passion for craftsmanship and art.

More than just a trade fair - an attitude
"We don't want to look back, we want to look forward - and with The Artisan Affair create a contemporary framework for what good craftsmanship can be today: sensual, high-quality, relevant," says Frank Pressentin. At a time when sustainability, individuality and quality are becoming increasingly important, this vision strikes a chord with the times.

The fair sees itself as a response to the end of the traditional MKG fair at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg. Together with former co-exhibitors and companions, The Artisan Affair was created as a new platform for the vibrant contemporary arts and crafts scene.
