About the object: The large, bowl-shaped mug warms the heart and hand on cold days. The smooth, shimmering blue glaze forms a beautiful contrast to the rough feel of the unglazed, heavily fireclayed stoneware at the bottom of the mug. In some objects, the glaze forms delicate drops, which even have their own name in Japan: drops of happiness .
Manufacture: The cup is made of reddish-brown clay. It was made by hand on the potter's wheel and fired twice in an electric kiln. The bluish glaze is self-developed and acid-resistant, making it safe to use with food.
The product is waterproof and dishwasher-safe. The glaze gives the rough stoneware a smooth surface, which makes eating and especially the cutlery more pleasant and gentle.

Malin Eva Altena (born 1993) has been working in her own ceramics workshop 'maev studio', located in Flensburg's Johannisviertel district, since 2022. Here she creates not only utility ceramics, but also sculptural works, which she designs with clear lines and refines with her self-developed glazes.
The trained ceramist is particularly fascinated by the interplay of shape, color and feel of her pieces, which she constantly explores anew and develops new designs for. Malin is also involved in the community outside her workshop doors and promotes creative exchange with other artists and craftspeople.
