Malin Eva Altena

About the object: The approx. 37 cm high vase by Malin Eva Altena is made of red-brown, heavily fireclayed stoneware. The white glaze contrasts with the earthy colors; the bulbous shape and the circular handle give the vase traction and make it an extremely striking appearance. The vase is back from the 1000 Vases exhibition in Paris and is looking forward to a new home.
Production: The vase is made of reddish-brown clay. It was turned by hand on the potter's wheel and fired twice in an electric kiln. The glaze is self-developed and acid-resistant. And of course the vase is waterproof.

Malin Eva Altena (born 1993) has been working in her own ceramics workshop
'maev studio', located in Flensburg's Johannisviertel, since 2022. Here she creates not only utility ceramics, but also sculptural works, which she designs with clear lines and refines with her self-developed glazes.
The trained ceramist is particularly fascinated by the interplay of shape, color and feel of her pieces and by constantly exploring this anew and developing new designs. Malin is also involved in the community outside her workshop doors and promotes creative exchange with other artists and craftspeople.
