Elke Sada
Elke Sada discovered ceramics by chance. In 1991, while working as a research technician in the United States, she took a pottery class. Her hands-on experience with the material inspired her so much that, a few years later, she gave up her career in chemical research and devoted herself entirely to ceramics. She studied 3D design with a focus on ceramics at Bath Spa University and subsequently studied ceramics and glass at the Royal College of Art in London.
The fusion of ceramics, painting, and graphic art remains at the heart of her work to this day. She is particularly interested in the interplay of space, color, movement, and chance. She creates colorful and unconventional vessels in which traces of the creative process, as well as corners and edges, are deliberately left visible
. Her ceramics straddle the line between applied and fine art and reflect a deep joy in experimentation.
Color plays a particularly important role. Elke Sada views it as an essential component of her ceramics and employs it deliberately and powerfully. Printing techniques, painterly elements, and various ceramic processes come together to form a striking visual language.
Elke Sada currently lives and works in Höhr-Grenzhausen. Her works have been exhibited and recognized internationally and are included in public and private collections.
