About the object: This delicate bowl by Bisui Ishikawa is approx. 4.5 cm high and has a diameter of around 17 cm. The blue-grey rim against the pink-tinted glaze emphasizes the lightness of the bowl, which weighs just 170 grams, and the irregular shape makes each of these beauties a unique piece. We have two of these bowls and sell them individually or together. The price is for one bowl each.

Production method: Bisui Ishikawa turns her delicate, lightweight bowls on the potter's wheel and shapes the rims as desired. This shaping, which according to Bisui depends on the mood and shape of the day, creates curves in the bowl that suit the bowl and make the bowls unique.

- Bisui Ishikawa vases and vessels should be washed by hand. Use clear water or at most gentle cleaning agents and no abrasive sponges.
- Dry the vessel carefully after cleaning to avoid water stains.
- Ceramic pots can be rougher on the underside than pots made of other materials. We therefore recommend protecting sensitive surfaces on which the jar is to be placed from scratching if necessary.

Bisui Ishikawa

Bisui Ishikawa's works are characterized by lightness, delicacy and an unmistakable formal language. Her bowls are created on the potter's wheel, where she shapes the rims according to her mood and the shape of the day. Each curve adapts harmoniously to the piece and makes each bowl a unique work of art. Her vases are also turned on the wheel, but the irregularly shaped vases are created entirely by hand, giving each object its very own personality. The time when Bisui Ishikawa is not working on the wheel is a creative phase for her, during which other handmade vases are created and which she describes as her free time.

Bisui Ishikawa has been working as an independent ceramicist in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, since 2023 and presented her work for the first time at the pottery fair in Mashiko. Prior to this, she graduated from Waseda University in 2015 in the English Language and Literature Department and began her training at the Tochigi Prefectural Ceramics Technical Support Center in 2021. At the same time, she worked as an assistant to Koichi Onozawa.

The artist's name, the kanji "Bisui", can also be read as slumber in Japan. It stands for the world between dream and reality and reflects the dreamy yet tangible quality of her bowls and vases. Each piece invites you to experience this special balance and enrich your everyday life with art.
