About the Object: The vase features an extraordinary shape that makes it truly unique. Delicate lines of cobalt oxide run intricately across the organically formed piece, shimmering subtly through the white glaze. On the underside, the matte glaze ends in droplets, and the fine lines transition into tactile grooves. The vase measures approximately 35 cm in diameter and 25 cm in height, with a large, round opening that provides ample space for magnificent flower arrangements. Its nature-inspired form evokes a variety of associations, making the vase a striking centerpiece in any living space.

Production method: The vase was made using the slab-building technique from coarse fireclay stoneware clay. The shapes are created by carefully joining and modeling the rolled clay slabs. The delicate pattern was also painted on with cobalt oxide and then covered with a layer of white glaze. The inside of the vase is also glazed white, making it impermeable to water.

  • Lotte Buur's vases and bowls are waterproof. The ceramics should only be hand-washed when necessary. Use clear water or, at most, a very mild detergent, a damp cloth, and, if needed, a soft brush. Never use abrasive sponges.
  • Dry the ceramic carefully but thoroughly after cleaning to avoid water spots.
  • Ceramics can be rougher on their underside than vessels made of other materials. We therefore recommend protecting any sensitive surfaces on which the ceramic will be placed from scratches.
  • Lotte Buur's ceramics are not frost-resistant. They can be left outdoors in the summer, but in winter they must be kept indoors or at least protected from frost.

Lotte Buur

Lotte Buur lives on the Danish island of Samsø, where she creates her unique stoneware vases. Born in 1966, the artist began her career as a printmaker and later as a graphic designer before discovering painting and sculpting in her mid-twenties.

Over the past ten years, her focus has increasingly shifted to ceramics. Today, she devotes herself almost exclusively to the production of stoneware vases, which she both throws on the potter's wheel and shapes using slab building techniques.

Lotte Buur has participated in numerous exhibitions, primarily showcasing her sculptures and paintings. More recently, she collaborated with volunteers on the large-scale land art project "Thistle Corridor." This project arose in connection with the planned Kattegat Bridge, which will connect the island of Zealand with Jutland. The project fosters community, stimulates debate, and strengthens appreciation for nature.

For Lotte Buur, nature is the starting point of her creative process and her most important source of inspiration. She therefore prefers to present her vases in her idyllic garden, surrounded by blossoms and leaves.
