Valentin Alscher / Grisella Kreiterling
About the object: This large ceramic pasta plate made of clay is characterized by its straight lines and can also shine as a serving bowl. The ceramic pasta plate is ideal for pasta of all kinds, bowls, salads and stews. The ceramic plate is handmade from gray clay and only has a light glaze on the inside. It holds approx. 900 ml.
Production: The clay is fired at 1250 °C. This produces stoneware clay, which is much firmer than stoneware clay with firing temperatures below 1200°. This makes the handmade ceramic ideal for the dishwasher and much firmer in texture. If knocked, the edges do not chip so quickly. If at all.

Valentin Alscher, born in 1966, and Grisella Kreiterling, born in 1971, live and work in St. Pauli. Valentin Alscher studied fine art at the HfbK Hamburg under the sculptor Bogomir Ecker, Grisella Kreiterling obtained her diploma in product design at the HfbK.
Clay in its own materiality and color characterizes the outer skin of the couple's ceramics, as they only glaze the inside of their vessels transparently. Unagitated and pure in their formal language, they turn the ceramics freely on the wheel. The double firing turns the clay into stoneware, making the ceramics resilient and impact-resistant. A necessary characteristic for use in the catering industry. Grisella Kreiterling and Valentin Alscher's tableware is not only straightforward and simply beautiful, but also robust and durable.
