About the object: The minimalist design of the matt white glazed pasta plate is inspired by Asian ceramics. Simplicity and balance form the basis from which Marie Martin develops her tableware collection. The plate has a delicate inscription on the inside, which is positioned so that the message only reaches the user. It's worth taking a closer look!

The bowl is available in 4 versions:

  • Mit Liebe gekocht
  • Mahlzeit
  • Buon Appetito
  • Liebe geht durch den Magen

Production process: The ceramic was formed from stoneware clay on the wheel and then inscribed with a tool developed by the artist herself. What is special about the fine lettering in capital letters is that it forms a relief on the surface and consists of an engobe made of the same stoneware clay from which the object was made. The ceramic was then glazed and fired in an electric kiln at 1250 °C.

Marie Martin's crockery and vases can be cared for as follows:

  • Marie Martin tableware is beautiful and suitable for everyday use. It can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher. And it is microwave-safe. Excessive temperature jumps (e.g. from the fridge to the hot oven) should be avoided as the ceramic may otherwise crack.
  • Handmade ceramics can be rough on the underside. We recommend protecting sensitive surfaces from scratching.
  • The vases are waterproof and can only be cleaned with brushes or a damp cloth on the outside and a brush on the inside if necessary.
  • Please do not use any cleaning agents or abrasive sponges.
  • Please dry the vase carefully by dabbing it after cleaning to avoid water stains.
  • The vase is not suitable for storing food and is not dishwasher-safe.
  • Please only use this vase indoors and store it in a protected place to prevent damage.
  • We recommend protecting sensitive surfaces on which the vase is to stand, such as wooden floors or table tops, from water or scratches if necessary.

Marie Martin

Marie Martin grew up in the French Alps as the youngest child in a large family. She spent a lot of time in nature as a child and discovered the joy of pottery on her own children's pottery wheel at the age of ten.

In 2007, she began her ceramic training with a Chinese teacher in Shenzhen. Eight years later, she moved to San Francisco, where she researched materials and developed her personal style at a local university and historic studios such as Sharon Art Studio.

Marie Martin began experimenting with lettering on ceramics in 2015. Seven years later, she succeeded in developing a special tool with which she can precisely apply her characteristic letter reliefs to wheel-thrown stoneware. Today, her unique ceramics are created on a large, old wooden table in her workshop in Spain, always accompanied by music and a cup of green tea.

Her aim is to capture the essence of our time with the texts on her works and preserve it for future generations. Memories, traditions and personal experiences are Marie Martin's inspiration. Her ceramics can be read as artefacts of contemporary civilization that constantly evoke new emotions and stimulate reflection.

The artist herself says: "I start from a simple but powerful idea. A ceramic can break in an instant, but it can also defy time and last for millennia. The clay becomes the medium through which I can leave a lasting impression."

The timeless aesthetics of her work and the ability to customize the lettering according to her clients' wishes create a special connection between people and objects.
